Steel Pipes

Generally, steel pipe is a cylindrical tube made from steel and is the most utilized product in the steel industry. The primary use of steel pipes is in the transport of products – including oil, gas, and water over long distances. Steel pipes come in a variety of sizes and can also be used for structural requirements. Steel Pipes can be manufactured as Seamless or Welded according to uses and demand.

There are many raw materials for making and production Of pipes, but there are only two most commonly used materials for steel pipes. These are Carbon Steel and Stainless Steel which the uses may vary according to its purpose and applications.

Carbon Steel Pipes

In carbon steel, the main alloying element is carbon. It has a higher carbon content. which gives the steel a lower melting point, more malleability and durability, and better heat distribution.

Stainless Steel Pipes

Stainless steel characteristically has a minimum of 10.5% chromium by weight, means has a larger percentage of chromium in it as compared to carbon steel, which is what grants it the ability to resist corrosion.

Seamless Steel Pipes

Seamless (SMLS) pipe is formed by drawing a solid billet over a piercing rod to create the hollow shell. As the manufacturing process does not include any welding, seamless pipes are perceived to be stronger and more reliable. Historically seamless pipe was regarded as withstanding pressure better than other types, and was often more easily available than welded pipe.

Welded Steel Pipes

Welded Pipe is manufactured by rolling metal and then welding it longitudinally across its length, therefore welded pipes have a welded joint in its cross-section.
