Gate and Globe Valves Philippines
What are Valves?
What is the difference between globe valve and gate valve?
Gate and globe valves are two common types of valves used in a wide range of industries for controlling the flow of fluids and gases. While they serve the same general purpose, they have distinct design and function differences.
A gate valve is a type of valve that uses a gate or wedge-shaped disk to control the flow of fluids or gases. The disk is typically perpendicular to the flow path when fully open, allowing for maximum flow. To close the valve, the disk is moved parallel to the flow path, creating a tight seal. Gate valves are commonly used in applications where a full bore, unobstructed flow path is required, such as in pipelines, oil and gas production, and water treatment plants.
A globe valve, on the other hand, uses a globe-shaped disk to control the flow of fluids or gases. The disk moves up and down along a vertical axis to open or close the valve. This design provides precise control over the flow rate and is often used in applications where a throttling valve is required, such as in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. Globe valves can also be used for on/off applications but are not as efficient in this regard as gate valves.
